Zeeland, MI — On Tuesday, April 28, add.a.lingua and Grand Valley State University Department of Modern Languages and Literatures are sponsoring a presentation featuring Diane J. Tedick, Ph.D., Associate Professor in Second Languages and Cultures Education at the University of Minnesota, for a presentation titled, “dual language immersion education: what do we know?”

add.a.lingua co-founder Stacey Vanden Bosch released the following statement today about Dr. Tedick’s upcoming visit:

“Dr. Tedick is one the nation’s foremost scholars on language immersion education. As a former immersion educator, she’s uniquely qualified to explain the latest research on dual language immersion education. Parents, educators, policy makers and business leaders concerned about closing the achievement gap between majority and minority language students and meeting the challenges of an increasingly multi-lingual and multi-cultural marketplace will benefit from her research.”

“Dual language immersion education is growing rapidly in Michigan, which now boasts 36 programs. 15 of those programs are located in West Michigan,” added add.a.lingua co-founder Lilah Ambrosi. “add.a.lingua is committed to implementing effective dual language immersion programs which have been shown capable of reducing the achievement gap between English dominant students and English language learners while providing the additive benefit of bilingualism and biliteracy for majority language students.”
